Percussion Director
 

Originally from Marietta, Ohio, Mrs. Crosby  has worked extensively as

an instructor, clinician, adjudicator and director of percussion all

across the east coast. She has been sought and employed by Marietta

Senior HS (Marietta, OH), Marietta MS (Marietta, OH), Warren HS

(Vincent, OH), Jefferson Forest HS (Forest, VA), Summit Parkway MS

(Columbia, SC), E.L. Wright MS (Columbia, SC), Irmo HS (Columbia, SC),

Lexington HS (Lexington, SC), Spring Valley HS (Columbia, SC), Blythewood
HS (Blythewood, SC), Chapin HS (Chapin, SC), Dutch Fork MS (Irmo, SC),
and Dutch Fork HS (Irmo, SC).  She has also judged Winter Ensemble
Championships for the South Carolina Band Directors Association, and
District 3 Region Band Auditions for South Carolina..

 

Miss Larrabee studied under Dr. John Carlyss (Indiana University), John

Hall (Indiana University), Dr. Chris Lee (University of South Carolina),

Jim Hall (University of South Carolina), and Dr. Scott Herring

(University of South Carolina) while completing undergraduate and

graduate studies in music, concentrating in percussion performance. She

is an active member of the Percussive Arts Society (PAS) and attends the

International Convention annually to continue her personal growth as a

modern percussionist.

 

In 2004 she competed in the PAS International

Convention College Keyboard Percussion Contest, performing a solo on

marimba, and received the highest women’s score. She has also

participated in the FUNdamentals Clinics at the convention. She has

taken lessons and performed with world-renowned percussionists such as

Michael Burritt (Northwestern University), Andy Harnsberger (Leigh

University), Dr. Susan Powell (Ohio State University), and Dr. John

Parks (Florida State University).

 

Miss Larrabee is also the founder and Executive Director of the

Verdigris Winter Ensemble, Columbia's finest independent competitive

indoor drumline with open auditions to all teenagers aged 13-19

in the Midlands and South Carolina. In its 2005-2006 inaugural season the group

received gold, sweeping its class and taking the season undefeated in

every caption at every contest.

 

As the Percussion Director of Dutch Fork High School, she teaches both

marching battery and front ensemble, as well as all areas of concert

percussion, including directing and conducting Percussion Ensemble

concerts and Solo and Ensemble entries.

 

She continues to perform professionally on the side and is the owner of

Fermata Music Studios of Columbia, SC. She was married to

Eddie Crosby on November 18, 2006.
